Time For Change was born from a late night text message Kristina sent me back in September 2009. We have always talked about organizing something more meaningful for our birthdays this year than the usual go-out-and-party-nights. So on the day when we were attending TEDxTO at CSI, she told me about her idea of modelling after Timeraiser, where we will auction off our photos from working in Malawi and Botswana this past summer. However, instead of bidding with money, our guests will bid with community service hours for local non-profits.
Here are our Time for Change Objectives:
- To thank all those who supported us financially and emotionally throughout the past year
- To share our stories, encounters, gains and pains from the summer
- To combine our passion for social media and photography to strive for social change
- To connect all those who want to be involved in the local community with meaningful volunteering opportunities that match their skills and fit their busy lifestyle.
After a couple months of last-minute preparation, we managed to pull it altogether. On December 3, 530pm-8pm, we will be hosting our first ever Time For Change event at Hotshots Gallery. More on this initiative will be posted here: http://www.t4change.com/
